A sample of our self-guided rides using the Hammerhead Karoo2 moving map
Please note: for some of our rides we're happy to provide gpx files if you have your own app, however, some, in particular the off-road routes, take a lot of work and those we can only give you preloaded into our Karoo2, which you'll need to rent.
1 - country ride suitable kids trailers - 46km
Starting in St Martin le Redon, small back roads lead to the magnificent Chateau Bonaguil. Cafe, restaurant, shops, castle visit. Keeping to back roads, you follow along the River Lot taking the 'voie verte' cycle path to Duravel. Cross the river and through the vineyards to Puy L'Eveque, a beautiful and historic town. Bars, tea-shops, views. Then for a taste of deepest France, you cycle back to base through countryside that doesn't seem to have changed much in hundreds of years!
9 - vineyard tour with off-road tracks - 38km
From St Martin le Redon up to the pretty hilltop village of Cavagnac then downhill off-road through vineyards, following along the pilgrims 'Compostella' or 'Chemin de St Jaques' path. The 'voie verte' takes you to Duravel and from there across the river and into the famous vineyards of Chateau Nozières and Gaudou. Then it's uphill to Lacapelle and magnificent views across the valley. Maybe stop for a picnic before completing the circuit? Not one for trailers or kids.
3 - explore - 36km
This one explores the countryside to the north of the Lot river. Woodlands and forestry, stone tracks, get lost in history as you make your way to Villefranche du Perigord and back.
